or personal disaster." --James E. Faust

Department #2) The Home Storage Center (Dry Pack Cannery) (801-785-0997) is located around the west end of the building in the back. The Home Storage Center produces only personal, home-storage items. These items are not used in the welfare system. Opportunities to process and purchase dry pack items are provided to local stakes 2-3 times a year or can be individually scheduled by calling the Home Storage Center's office. Bulk and specific pre-packaged items can be purchased without working a shift. Canners may be checked out to handle individual, long-term storage. Arrangements should be made in advance by calling the Home Storage Center to determine product availability and pick up times. Normal hours are Monday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Tuesday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m (subject to change depending on participation). They are closed the third Friday of each month for reporting purposes.

  1. #2 - I went to the drypack cannery today - here is my story - I got there at 9am, there was a line of about 10 people when they opened the door
so - they do it differently now, no more assembly line, you have to do ALL of your product yourself, so it's really good to take two people with you when you go. I did 42 cans in 2.5 hours by myself. There are missionaries there to help you. They take people on first come-first serve, when you come in the door, you sign a paper and they call your name when there is an opening. Inside the canning room there are 6 stations, each station can fit 2 people working on one order. They don't limit the amount you can get, you are basically limited by your own time, money and energy. It's pretty exhausting work if you aren't used to being on your feet.
-- Right now they are out of white wheat and spaghetti I think. So, for now they are open only Tues and Thursdays from 9am to 6pm, I think you would have to arrive by 4pm to get inside and finished.
